Sgt Dean Oliver of 1st Battalion, the Staffordshire Regiment, died of a non-terrorist shooting incident on the 9th May 1992.

Service Number: 24523833

He was born on 2nd March 1962 and was aged 30.

He is laid to rest at Municipal Cemetery, Silverdale, Newcastle-under-Lyme. Grave number 4180.

HI ANY OF DEANS FAMILY/FRIENDS,ESP EWAN, PLEASE GET IN TOUCH,I JOINED THE PARACHUTE REG WITH DEAN,AND ON LEAVING THE REG,I WENT TO LIVE WITH DEAN AT HIS FAMILY HOME AT CHEDDER DRIVE PARKSITE SILVERDALE, ALMOST SIX MONTHS,I CAME HOME TO NI AND DEAN REJOINED THE STAFFORDS,WE LOST TOUCH, AND I WAS VERY SHOCKED AT HIS DEATH,REGARDS TO TOMMY HIS DAD AND ELSIE HIS MOTHER, WEE BROTHER KENT,DEAN WAS A TOP GUY,MURDERED BY A FEEBLE EXCUSE OF A MALE,MAY HE ROT IN HELL,I THINK OF YOU OFTEN PAL,WE HAD TIMES, I'LL TAKE TO ME GRAVE,SLEEP WELL BOY, DEN.

Hi Denis, for some bizarre reason I thought of Dixy last night and wondered what he was up to. We completed Platoon Sgts Battle course together and kept in touch during Op Granby. I'm devastated to hear this news and explains why he just disappeared. I have just read a news article about the court hearing, what an absolute disgrace

HI COLIN,IF YOU HAVE ANY ADDRESS DETAILS FOR ANY OF DEANS FAMILY, I'D BE GRATFUL IF YOU COULD PASS THEM ON TO ME, ALSO IF YOU KNOW IF DEAN WAS MARRIED,HIS WIFES NAME ETC,WOULD BE GREAT, AS YOU KNOW DEAN WAS A TOP GUY,,AND I WAS GUTTED ON HIS DEATH, HIS MOTHER ONCE SAID TO US,THAT IF DEAN WENT TO NI HE WOULD BE KILLED, LITTLE DID SHE KNOW,REGARDS DENIS.

I remember going to school with Dean who was very well respected. RIP.
